The REAL deal

It's very rare that I fall in love with a shop. I'm so fussy and have very specific taste. I like classic pieces that I can wear time and time again. It's been a long time since an independent retailer has really caught my eye but new store Real on the Lisburn Road has truly stolen my heart. Located along the same row as Space NK and another of my favourites, Harrison, Real is a welcome addition to the boutiques of Belfast.

Owned by sister dream team Roisin and Maria (pictured with me above- how gorgeous are they!?), the ladies have hand-picked brands that are exclusive to Real on the island of Ireland. The ladies know a thing or two about fashion having previously owned Panache, also on the Lisburn Road. Their new store Real is an Aladdin's cave of stunning clothes, beautiful accessories and sumptuous bath & body products. I can't put into one post all of the stunning brands they stock as many of them do really need to be felt in real life! However, things that particularly caught my eye were the Bamford range of body and bath products. The spa quality products smell divine and I'm dying to try their cleanser that I've read a lot about online. They also stock handbags by the designer Meli Melo that have been worn by the likes of Kate Middleton.

If you love things that are a wee bit different, Real is a must visit. The ladies are so lovely and really understand how to make pieces work for your body shape. Real is definitely going to become a staple of my shopping rounds!

Speedy strobing

Everyone seems to be highlighter crazy at the moment. Strobing is the new contouring and people want that J-Lo/Kardashian highlight ASAP. I've tried lots of highlighters over the past number of months. Some are too glittery and make my face look like a disco ball and some are good but extremely over priced for something that is just a makeup add on. I would always encourage my readers to fork out big money for skincare and foundation as those are the two things that can really make a difference. I adore a dupe product and Boots & Superdrug can keep me amused for hours.

I've found the best highlighter combo for that on fleek glow that won't cost you a fortune. Both products are from Collection which is not to be frowned at - their concealers and mascaras are also great. On their own, the products are nice but together they create that WOW glow that we all want. Once you have done your base makeup, take the Collection Speedy Highlighter Stick, £3.99 across the tops of your cheeks. I literally use this as a giant crayon and draw a line. I then pat this in with my ring finger to take away the harshness of the line. Then using a small brush (I like the Real Techniques Countouring Brush from the Core Collection), I sweep the Collection Gorgeous Glow Bronzing Block, £4.19 (very similar to the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks) on top of the Speedy Highlighter. Not only does this create a juicy highlight, it doesn't fade due to the mix of cream and powder products used.

Definitely a combo to try if you love your highlighter- and even better than it doesn't break the bank!

Focus on me

(Yes this blog title is just for you Rory, I hope you appreciate it whilst you read my blog on your lunch!)

I have had a life-long obsessed with sunglasses. My mother has worked in opticians for most of my life so it's obvious where the obsession comes from! I have been watching lots of Desi Perkins YouTube videos (I highly recommend if you love glowy makeup like me). I noticed in some of her videos she wore really cool sunglasses- she even devoted a whole video to them (her editing is out of this world!).

I gave them a Google and found out that one the styles she likes is My Girl by Quay Australia. The brand is stocked on ASOS and this pair were a very affordable £30. I have sunglasses that are ten times this price but these are some of the nicest lenses to look through plus they get some major attention when you wear them.

They are super fun and brighten up any look- I know it's November but how cute do they look with my Primark sweater? I might even wear them if it snows!
