DANIs Glam

I had an amazing night a few weeks ago at the DANI Awards. These are the Digital Awards in Northern Ireland for those who work in the digital field. It was a great honour to be nominated for Fashion Blogger of the Year and I was commended in my category. It was lovely to come home with an award to put on my dresser- it's the first time I've won something for my blog so it was a big deal.

The best bit about fancy dos for me is getting dolled up. I am the type of person who does not suit being dressed down- I suit being done up to the nines! I wore a dress from Club L at ASOS. I wore a size 16 and it also available in ASOS Curve up to a size 28.  It was a bargain £38- a great brand to look into if you are someone like me who often has to go to dinners and functions. I don't often wear colour but royal blue is one colour I make an exception for. It's actually my grandmother's favourite colour so it always reminds me of her when I wear it! The evenings theme was 'Arabian Nights' so I did feel a little bit Princess Jasmine in it! My earrings were very old from New Look and shoes are again, very old and from Primark!

I had my spray tan done the night before by Angie at Vita Liberata in House of Fraser Belfast. Although I've been using Vita Liberata at home for years but this was the first time I had been spray tanned using the formula. I loved the colour- I got the darkest option and I think it suited my skin tone. I love Vita Liberata as it's an olive tone. If you have yellow toned skin like me, it's the most perfect tan and it wears off beautifully. Getting the spray tan was actually great fun. Like most women, I can be really self conscious. I've never actually removed my bra before to get spray tanned.... until I met Angie! She is absolutely hilarious and put me at ease. She has some amazing tanning tales and top tips. I highly recommend visiting her. A full body tan costs £29.50 (or a bargain £20 on a Wednesday). Many thanks to Vita Liberata for a fab experience- I'll definitely be back!

For my hair and makeup, I went to Megan Donaldson. On asking my readers, she was the name that came up the most. Living in Newtownabbey, she is handy and easy to work with. She had my hair and makeup both done in an hour and we had a great chat whilst she was doing it. It was fab to go to one person for both things rather than having to book multiple appointments. She has a great eye and knew exactly the look I wanted from showing her my dress. Megan is a contouring and blending expert. I am so fussy about my hair and makeup but I adore the look Megan created for me. Using products such as Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk on my skin, MAC Soft and Gentle as a highlight and House of Lashes mink lashes, the makeup lasted all night. I have no idea how she did my hair as I was talking so much but she managed to make me look like I have hair down to my waist! I can't wait to book in with Megan for my next glam event- my birthday is just around the corner so she might have me torturing her again soon! You can book to see Megan via her Facebook page.

Thanks to all who made my first DANIs experience so special- here's hoping it won't be the last!

Beauty with a purpose

There is nothing I love more than buying beauty that supports something fab- an even bigger excuse to buy new makeup! Two new things dropped into my mail box this week- both are beauty items with a great purpose behind them.

From September 20th-3rd October 2015, when you buy two Clarins items (one to be skincare) you will receive a FEED10 pouch containing 5 iconic products: Moisture-Rich Body Lotion 100ml, Relax Bath and Shower Concentrate 100ml, Gentle Refiner 30ml, HydraQuench Cream-Mask 30ml and iconic Hand and Nail Treatment Cream 50ml. These are great sized products that will allow you to try out some new things or have extras of your favourites. For every customer who receives one with their purchase of two products, Clarins provides 10 nutritious school meals through the UN World Food Programme to children in developing countries. I absolutely love this idea- it's the perfect excuse to stock up on your favourite Clarins products and help out children in need. Bravo Clarins!

I am addicted to buying makeup brushes- I'm all about the tools of the trade! I often buy my Real Techniques at Gordon's Chemist as they frequently have good deals on them but I think the Look Good Feel Better brushes are my new favourite. The brushes are so soft, easy to use and up to 12% of the sale of each brush and set will be donated to the fabulous cancer charity they are named after. The brushes are hand-made, allergy free and cruelty free. I can't wait to buy more brushes from the range- making my face look more fabulous and helping a great cause that effects so many women. Brushes are available now in Gordon's Chemists online and in selected stores.

New essentials

I've been taking things easy lately after a jam packed year- a new job, finishing university and whole host of other things have happened in 2015. I can't believe we are in September! I thought I'd share some things with you that I've been using on a daily basis since I got them.

I posted about this recently on my Instagram and the reaction was amazing. This new launch foundation is unlike anything else I've ever tried- it's light-weight with medium to buildable coverage. The lack of SPF makes it the PERFECT night out foundation. I found it wears really well, photographs beautifully and makes your skin look dewy! I powder my T-Zone a little bit with this foundation and would recommend that for any of my more oily girls. The foundation is affordable, £16.50 and is available in a whole host of colours. The colour match service at No7 is great- I really did think it was a gimmick but it works really well and also allows you to see what lipstick and blushers are perfect for your skin-tone too. I am slowly falling in love with No7- something I never thought I'd do because their target demographic always seemed to be a bit more 'mum' centric but their new products are timeless.

I go to Jason Shankey Lisburn Road to get my hair done with the beautiful Caroline. They are a Joico salon and I love their products. My hair is currently growing out really well and I've been trying to have more messy and relaxed hair. I love volume in my hair so I usually wash & blow-dry it about twice a week and then just 'fluff' it up in between. I was recently sent the Joico Hair Shake- it is a spray that turns to powder when you spray into your hair. I love using it in my roots to give a bit of volume and texture on 2nd and 3rd day hair. I love it as it doesn't leave hair with residue or feeling sticky- great for girls who like to hold in their blow-dry like me.

Michael Kors new gold collection of scents offers three versions- White Luminous Gold (a deep, sexy scent), 24K Brilliant Gold (fresh and clean) and my personal favourite Rose Radiant Gold. The bottles is stunning and I've had so many compliments when I wear it- the scent is perfect for this time of year. It's a real mix between the other two scents- a little bit of spice and a little bit fresh. The floral and musk tones help the fragrance to be long lasting- it's one of the type of scents that gets nicer as the day goes on.

I hope you are all well- September is flying in!
