Nic's Picks from Gordon's Chemists

I am an avid Real Techniques brush fan. My makeup brush set largely consist of MAC and Real Techniques. They are great value for money, wash easily and apply makeup smoothly. I have bought a number of the individual brushes over the years along with the "Core Collection" brush set but this was my first larger set from Real Techniques that I have purchased. 2 bigger sets are available which would make great Christmas presents. There is a "Sam's Picks" which consists of a few of the main line brushes plus some bonuses. I would recommend this to anyone who was just starting out their brush collection as it contains all the brushes needed for applying a daily face of makeup. I opted to buy "Nic's Picks"* as I liked the look of the smaller fluffy brushes.

The five brushes are all ridiculously soft. The bigger face brush is fantastic for applying mineral or setting powder. It applies it evenly and doesn't have much product fall out. It is the only duo-fibre brush in the set and I think that's what makes it great for powder.  The other face brush is suggested for cheeks and would be great for cream blush but I have been enjoying it for my heavier foundations. It makes them very easy to blend it. It is like a more dense version of the Expert Face Brush which I love, also by Real Techniques. The other 3 brushes are intended for eyes but the angled fluffy brush is PERFECT for concealer. I have been using it with my under eye concealer and it has worked beautifully. The other fluffy eye brush is very like a MAC 224 brush which is great for blending eyeshadow out. The smaller brush is an angled brush which is curved. This was created for eyeliner but it's also great for doing a crease cut with eyeshadow which can then be blended out.

Overall, I think these brushes are great. They are a little lighter and softer to work with. The perfect gift for any makeup obsessed girl! Both sets are available in store at Gordons Chemist and online at
