My little trip to London

On Tuesday I traveled to London with my mum for a wee mini-break to celebrate finishing university and to generally just spend time together. My mum works so hard that sometimes it's easy for us to forget to hang out together!

We stayed at the lovely Strand Palace Hotel. I've stayed in many hotels in London and even though the Strand isn't the most glamorous, it's clean, friendly and has the best location. It's a 5 minute walk to Covent Garden tube stop and there is a bus stop outside. I would highly recommend it to anyone going to London. On Tuesday, we jumped on the bus and had a nosey around Selfridges which has their sale on. Charlotte Tilbury also has a pop-up makeup event in Selfridges at the moment where I picked up one of the make-up bags which has the lip prints of lots of celebs on it. I also was in need of new jeans so up I popped to the 3rd floor where Selfridges has a new, huge denim lounge. I ended up getting a pair from Primark which now has its own concession in the store. I picked up the super high-waisted jeans in black... they fit SO well and cost a bargain £10! We then headed down New Bond Street and I literally raided Victoria's Secret. I hate not having a Victoria's Secret in Belfast so usually heavily stock up everytime I go to the States. It's great that there are two in London, even if the stuff does work out a little more expensive. I picked up a Pink tracksuit (tacky I know, but I love them for going out walking), the 5 for £20 knickers from Pink and 3 for £24 body sprays (Love Spell being my favourite). The body sprays are the best thing- they last for ages and the smells are so fresh. We then headed to Louis Vuitton where I picked up my graduation present (which my mother said I am not allowed to show or tell until my graduation on June 1st!). On Tuesday evening, we headed off to Leicester Square Theatre to see the amazing Broadway diva Patti LuPone accompanied by Seth Rudetsky. Singing is my other big passion in life and getting to see Patti in person was amazing. I have been a huge fan for years and to be seated in the front row, about 10 feet from her, was incredible. It was a really casual show, talking about her life, the shows she has been in and lots of beautiful singing. Seth was also really funny. They had some technical problems during the show which involved changing the piano as the pedal wouldn't work, so Patti just dandered about the stage and came over for a chat. I stayed behind after the show and was lucky enough to meet both of them which was a total dream come true for me.

Charlotte Tilbury event, Louis Vuitton purchase, me and Patti!

On Wednesday, I felt a little sick so we didn't venture too far. We went for a little walk up to Trafalgar Square and went to the Primark at Tottenham Court Road. On the way back we nipped into & Other Stories on Regent Street which is a new venture by H&M. It's a really cool shop and has some very classic pieces as well as an amazing cosmetic section which my mum was very taken by. We went to Liberty and Monki (which I had been dying to visit) and I picked up a dress in their sale. I also had some of my favourite macaroons from Laduree, the salted caramel variety! We had dinner at Steak&Co followed by some dessert at the amazing frozen yogurt company, Snog. My mum was 100% convinced that I was winding her up and that it was actually ice-cream!

Snog fro-yo, I loved this sign at a local bar and some yummy Laduree

We were getting our flight home on Thursday but we still managed to fit in a quick nip to Knightsbridge to go to Harvey Nichols, Harrods and weirdly, Rigby & Peller. I have been having serious "boob" issues. I've read so many reviews of Rigby & Peller and thought "If they are good enough for the Queen, they are good enough for me".  Largely out of interest, I just wanted to see if I was wearing the right size. I wasn't. I came away feeling so informed about measuring, body shape and bras that I honestly would pay the money to go once a year to see them and get re-measured. Their bras are expensive. I bought a basic bra which cost me £52 but it feels so worth it. If you are ever near Harrods, go to Rigby & Peller Knightsbridge and ask for Ursula. You'll not regret it! We had a brilliant lunch in Harvey Nicks as well- the 5th floor restaurant is lovely to sit in. I also had a good nosey around the BeautyMart in Harvey Nicks which sells lots of cult beauty products from around the world. A must visit for all beauty buffs.

Overall, a great trip but now I am home, poorer and with sore feet!
